WE PRIDE OURSELVES with the quality comprehensive care we provide to our patients. Personal care begins at the first visit when we sit down and talk with you about your concerns and answer questions you may have. After getting to know you, we review your medical and dental history, examine you for oral cancer, periodontal (gum) disease, decay, and any other oral problems you may have. We use state of the art diagnostic techniques. You get to see your teeth on television through an intra-oral video camera. Any necessary radiographs and models of your mouth are made. If there are problems that need more discussion, an additional consultation is scheduled at no cost to you. We then talk with you about the treatment plan that has been specifically designed to meet your individual needs. Our goal is to help you keep your teeth and smile for a lifetime.

Gentle Treatment
Dr. Gavelis treats patients who need relatively simple treatment such as fillings or crowns to the most complex cases involving implants, bridges, and dentures. Patients may feel anxious at a dental visit. Dr. Gavelis understands this and is very gentle and caring. He schedules ample time to get complete numbness and provide you with excellent care without being rushed.

Even though Dr. Gavelis' specialty is prosthetic dentistry — the replacement of missing teeth — we place equal emphasis on esthetics and prevention. We build our patients' confidence and self-esteem through improving their smiles. Modern dentistry provides us with many beautiful materials and methods such a tooth whitening, tooth colored fillings, inlays, veneers, and porcelain crowns.

Commitment
We also have a deep commitment to keep patients from losing their teeth. Much of this is accomplished by our hygienists who are specially trained to perform non-surgical periodontal treatment. Using these treatments, we help many of our patients avoid the cost and discomfort of gum surgery, yet still control periodontal disease. Most people know that periodontal disease causes offensive mouth odors, bleeding gums, and tooth loss. Medical researchers have recently discovered that periodontal disease is also implicated in heart attacks, strokes, and low birth weight babies. Once we have the disease under control, our hygienists will coach our patients through education and regular continuing care visits to prevent further disease. Over the years we have found that the great majority of patients can have a happier, more confident life by keeping their own teeth rather than wearing a denture.

Personal Care
Dr. Gavelis can help patients with dentures as well. We enjoy replacing worn out dentures with new ones that fit and look better so our patients can eat comfortably and smile again. It may be possible to completely eliminate the removable dentures by using implants (artificial roots) to anchor bridges. This way we can eliminate the slipping of dentures and the fear of them falling out. Patients may again eat foods they weren't able to eat with dentures
