Dr. Jonas R. Gavelis, D.M.D. — A Lifetime of Achievement
With over 25 years of experience in dental medicine, Dr. Gavelis practices as a prosthodontist — a specialist in crown, bridge and implant dentistry as well as dentures. His dental education started in 1971 with a Baccalaureate of Science from the University of Massachusetts, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In 1975 he graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine with the degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine. He completed his Prosthodontic Dentistry Residency at The Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 1978. Between 1978 and 1992 Dr. Gavelis enjoyed teaching as an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut and the Harvard Schools of Dental Medicine, and as Prosthodontist and Director of Dental Quality Assurance at the Harvard Community Health Plan. After entering private practice in Rockport in 1991, Dr. Gavelis remains dedicated to learning by extensive participation in continuing dental education courses.
His professional accreditations and memberships include: The American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, Northeastern Prosthodontic Society (President, 1993), Harvard Odontological Society, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, American College of Prosthodontists, Northshore Perio-Pros Study Club, and the Northshore District Dental Society.
Dr. Gavelis has also been the recipient of several distinguished awards and honors;

Administrative Staff
Our friendly administrative staff are usually the first contact you will have with our office. They are pleased to welcome you to our office and answer any questions you have about us. Our scheduling coordinator will help you with your scheduling needs. Our financial administrator is an expert on insurance matters and will help maximize your benefits. She is also wonderful at making financial arrangements to assist you with your financial responsibilities in keeping your smile.
Hygiene Staff
Our dental hygienists are graduates of accredited dental hygiene programs and are licensed through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. They have training and expertise in treating periodontal (gum) problems, sealants, cleaning and polishing teeth. They are eager to help educate you in taking care of your teeth for a lifetime of comfort and enjoyment.
Dental Assisting Staff
Our dental assistants are key members of our team in directly assisting Dr. Gavelis provide you with the highest quality of care. They are knowledgeable and will help answer many of the questions you may have about your treatment.
Sterilization Assisting Staff
We are committed to having the safest environment for your care. Our sterilization assistants are specially trained to disinfect each of our treatment rooms between patients and to sterilize all of our instruments after every use using hospital-grade autoclaves and techniques. We take the strictest precautions in protecting you from infectious diseases.
